Officials said on Thursday that two people, including one of Myanmar nationality, were detained in Mizoram carrying heroin. A 32-year-old Myanmar native was found to be in possession of 69.9 grammes of heroin by officers from the Excise and Narcotics Department on Wednesday in Serchhip town after acting on a tip.
In a separate operation on Tuesday, they said that 123 gramme of heroin was found close to the Myanmar border in the Champhai area in east Mizoram. They went on to say that a 24-year-old Champhai guy had been detained.
The two suspects were booked under the appropriate provisions of the Narcotics Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS Act), according to authorities who declined to reveal the cost of the narcotics they had confiscated in order to discourage smuggling.
